How to get to amazing Southern Dalmatian Islands

When travelling to most Southern Dalmatian Islands you’ll board a ferry in Split.The ferry lines are very well organized with frequent timetables but with some longer waiting for boarding only in the main season when additional ferries operate if ports are crowded with cars.

Ferries from Split and Dubrovnik to islands

Whether you travel by plane, car, bus or train – before you board a ferry to one of the Southern Dalmatian islands – Brač, Hvar, Korčula, Vis or Lastovo – you need to get to famous town Split. The reason is simple – almost all ferry routes start here – unless you come from even southern coast where you have few more options to reach some islands from other ports (routes from Makarska to Brač or from Drvenik to Hvar – with Jadrolinija coastliner).

JADROLINIJA is the national ferry company and the biggest coastliner opearating most routes in the country. If travelling to Southern Dalmatian Islands you’ll be probably board one of ferries or catamaran from their fleet. Jadrolinija operates during the whole year by different timetables for summer and winter season.

KAPETAN LUKA coastliner operates catamaran route from May to October connecting Split to Dubrovnik stopping on islands Brač, Hvar, Korčula and Mljet. Another route is from Split to Vis, stopping on island Hvar.

G & V LINE operates a catamaran service for two lines – from Dubrovnik to Šipan and Mljet, and from Dubrovnik to Korčula and Lastovo.

Ferries from Italy to Hvar Island

Jadrolinija, Blue Line and SNAV operate routes from Ancona in Italy to Hvar Island during the summer. Check their website for timetable and tickets.

Flights to Brač Island (Bol)

Brač Island is the only Dalmatian island with the airport! The Airport Brač is located nearby famous town Bol what makes your trip to Bol and other towns on the island much easier and comfortable. Croatia Airlines serve regular flights from Zagreb to Brač Island from May till end of October and charters from Europe fly to Brač Airport as well during the summer.
